One goal in each half was enough to see Killymoon beat a skilful and spirited Tyrone U16 Milk Cup side. The first 20 minutes saw the youngsters give their older opponents a lesson in pass and move but once an inswinging McElhatton corner was bundled over the line off a Tyrone defender, Killymoon began to exert some kind of midfield control in an otherwise scrappy game.
Tyrone did manage to create a few good opening in the first period without really taking advantage of a shaky home defence but with both sides making numerous subs the match saw chances at a premium.
David McMullen's tenacity doubled Killymoon's lead eight minutes into the second half and the introduction of Gareth McCaw steadied the 'Moon back line with new face.
Willie Ferguson also looking lively on the wing. Overall a good workout before the real tests begin but the talented Tyrone lads will definitely be a side to watch in this years Milk Cup |
