Anyone watching this game would have been hard pressed to work out who plied their trade in last year Irish League and who played in the Mid Ulster League.

Killymoon came out of the blocks quickly and matched their opponents all over the pitch with Smith and J Ferguson going close as Armagh struggled to come to terms with Killymoon's synthetic pitch. As the half progressed Armagh got to grips with the pace of the pitch and for a 15 minute period put Moon under terrific pressure, hitting the bar and post before McParland blasted his team in front as the home players argued with the ref about his decision to allow play to go on after it seemed to be over the bye line. Back came the Moon and with 12 minutes remaining in the first half Smith stole in to pull his side level as Armagh failed to clear a long clearance from Fearson. Armagh hit back and play swung from end to end before the half time whistle brought proceeding to an end.

Armagh started the quicker in the second half and again hit the woodwork but back came Killymoon with Smith hitting narrowly wide and on 59 minutes it seemed like lady luck had began to shine on the Moon as an Armagh defender received his marching orders for handball and Killymoon were awarded a penalty. Unfortunately Smith's spot kick was well saved by Mcfredrick and Mulligan blasted the rebound into the side netting.

This proved to be the turning point as, although Moon pressed forward, it was Armagh who looked the more dangerous on the break and after 73 minutes McCone latched onto a quickly taken free kick to fire Armagh into an undeserved lead.

Showing bags of spirit Moon flooded forward with Smith twice heading wide when well placed, Purvis heading over another super J Ferguson corner and both Montgomery and Mulligan also blasting over when well placed to test the keeper and so it proved the home sides undoing as Campbell at last found the target after a long clearance allowed him to outpace Fearson.

Try as they might Moon found no way back into the match and although proud of their players efforts the Killymoon management were left to ponder on more points allowed to slip away against opposition which were more than matched by their young opponents from Cookstown.
