Killymoon Rangers 2
Dungannon Rovers 2
Saturday 4th August 2012
Friendly

Killymoon Rangers entertained Dungannon Rovers in their final preseason friendly at a sunny Sports Arena in Cookstown on Saturday and had to settle for a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
In the opening minutes Marc Harkness set up new signing Barrie Kelly and his shot was saved. On seven minutes Barrie Kelly took a free kick out on the right touch line and Roger Greer, another new face in the team, headed wide. Dungannon had a corner cleared before R Greer found M Loughran and the danger was cleared on the edge of the box. Dungannon took the lead on 12 minutes. A mistake in the moon defence allowed the ball to be crossed and Filippi scored (0-1). W Smith tried to put his strike partner M Loughran in on goal, but the ball fell kindly to Marc Harkness who shot over. A Stephen McElhatton free kick was headed on by Stephen Purvis and M Loughran laid the ball back to Davy McMullan, who shot went narrowly wide. Dungannon Rovers were certainly in the game and were looking to get at the home defence. M Loughran sent B Kelly down the right wing but R Greer was unable to find the finish at the back post. Warren Smith then caused problems down the right wing, his cross missed everyone in the box. Dungannon then had three free kicks in quick succession, which were dealt with by Gareth McElhatton in the Killymoon goal. On 40 minutes Killymoon equalised, Roger Greer was fouled in the box, and Stephen McElhatton scored from the spot. HT 1-1.
Simon Kerr came on at half time for Roger Greer and both teams made numerous substitutions throughout the second half. Killymoon took the lead on 46 minutes, captain Stephen Purvis heading in a throw from Davy Mac (2-1). Minutes later, Gareth McElhatton had to be alert to prevent an equaliser with a quick reaction save. The equaliser duly arrived minutes later. Killymoon failed to clear the ball and Grimes knocked the ball home. B Kelly saw his free kick sail just over the bar. Marc Harkness then ran at the Dungannon defence before shooting wide. Gareth McElhatton was called on to make a save before Goldie Loughran had his header saved. Player manager Davy Mac saw his header go wide before B Kelly hit the bar for the home team from a cross by Simon Kerr. J Scott and M Hughes replaced D Millar and W Smith. G Greer, A Chesney, and R O'Neill coming on for S Purvis, A Rea, and Davy Mac. Gareth McElhatton's clearance was saved by his opposite number and then he himself was called on to make a save. Ryan O'Neill won the ball and set up M Loughran who shot over from the edge of the box. Killymoon then introduced a little bit of French flair to the proceedings, with Roma coming on for M Loughran. Roma sent M Hughes away down the left and his cross was cleared for a corner with Ryan O'Neill ready to pounce. Matty Hughes then turned his man and the shot was well saved. The game was well refereed by Mr Ronnie Allen who then blew the final whistle to leave the final score Killymoon Rangers 2, Dungannon Rovers 2.
