Niall Hunters' young lions overcame their older counterparts in a very close affair at the Mid-Ulster Sports Arena, the Reserve's final friendly before Saturday's league opener against Ballymacash Rangers.
Killymoon started the brighter with Cameron Stewart's chip just over the crossbar from twenty yards. But as the game progressed Cookstown's pace and movement up front caused great pressure on Killymoon's back three.
Malcolm Steadman filling in for the injured Stephen McKernan had to make a couple of smart saves with Brian Smith and Jason Devlin along with the impressive Ryan Glasgow having to be at their best in defence. Sustained pressure by Cookstown gave them the first goal just before half time.
Into the second half with a few changes the Reserves began to create more opportunities with Kevin O'Neill and Chris Burns with half chances. Again Steadman had to be at his best pulling off a couple of one on one last ditch saves. As the game came to an end the Reserves kept sustained pressure on their younger opponents but could not find an equaliser against a very mobile and organised side.
