On Saturday the Reserves were narrowly defeated by a single goal by Lurgan Town on a lush Beechway surface. With Gomes and Daly promoted to the first team and Freeburn, Devlin, Stewart, Glasgow and Kevin O'Neill all absent, managers Fluke and Warwick had to ring the changes giving debuts to Clark Hill, Brian O'Donnell and Peter Sloan. With Marty McCormack returning to the starting line up and the 'late abscence' of Sean O'Neill, Alan Fluke and David Reid made up the fourteen.

Despite all the changes Killymoon dominated possession in the opening thirty minutes creating several half chances for strikers Scott and Sloan. Good link up play on the right between Campbell and Scott caused Lurgan alot of problems which was reinforced by the power of the midfield trio of Hall, McCormack and Davidson.

But as in their previous two fixtures the Reserves could not turn possession and control into goals which allowed Lurgan a foothold in the game. In fact it was Lurgan who took the game by the teeth in the last ten minutes of the half and the first twenty minutes of the second. In this spell they hit the woodwork twice with McKiernan in goal, just returned from injury, having to be at his best on several occasions. Hall found himself free on the edge of the Logan area on the hour mark after good work on the right by Campbell. Unfortunately he scuffed his goal-bound shot which allowed Lurgan's sweeper to clear off the line, Killymoon's best chance of the game.

With fifteen minutes to go Lugan hit an undeserved winner from a free-kick 25yards out. McKernan looked to have made the save to his right but somehow the ball squirmed from his hands and rolled into the net. Killymoon introduced Fluke, O'Donnell and Reid but again the Reserves suffered for not killing a game off when they were on top. Despite the result manager Warwick was pleased with the performance of his debutants and how well the team played in spells despite so many changes. He reiterated the need of a large squad and competition for places to improve the team as a whole and re-enforce their position in Mid-Ulster Reserve Division One.
