Last Saturday Killymoon Rangers Reserves continued their unbeaten four match run against Warrenpoint in Mid-Ulster Reserve Division One gaining a hard earned point through a late equaliser by Nigel Cambell. With Kyle and Brian Smith and Marc Stewart called up to the first team squad and Jason Devlin unavailable due to work commitments, managers Fluke and Warwick had to reshuffle the back four with Ryan Glasgow and Marty Daly slotting into the full back positions. In turn, Cameron Stewart dropped from the front line into central midfield alongside Marty McCormack with Mustafa Kaplan getting his first start for the Reserves.

Killymoon started brightly creating several good chances in the opening twenty minutes through Kaplan, Scott and Ferson. But as the game moved on Warrenpoint started to dominate midfield which gave them the confidence to push for the opening goal. On the half hour mark this pressure led to a free kick for Warrenpoint thirty yards out. Killymoon's defence was caught ball watching with the Warrenpoint midfielder striding in unmarked to head home the opener from ten yards. With Warrenpoint continually over-running midfield the make-shift defence had to be at it's best to withstand the pressure, Mark Freeburn and Adrian Ferson both having great games.

After a roasting by the managers at half time Killymoon came out of the blocks to try and retrieve the game. There was more purpose and committement to their play as they pushed for the equaliser. Brian O'Donnell, Kevin O'Neill and Gavin McGuckin entered the frey as Killymoon switched to three strikers up front. O'Neill, Scott and Stewart all had good chances as Warrenpoint began to buckle under the pressure. The deserved equaliser came ten minutes from time through Nigel Campbell who has grown in confidence in front of goal, his fourth in four games. Killymoon might have stole the lead at the end from a couple of corners as the ball ping-ponged around the Warrenpoint area just needing a touch.

It really was a game of two halves. With all the enforced changes and players having to play out of position the team did not gel together in the first half. They lost their shape, gave possession away needlessly and again didn't take the early chances. But in the second half the players played for each other, kept it simple and were direct in their play and got the deserved equaliser. Probably the right result.

TEAM: Steven McKernan, Ryan Glasgow, Mark Freeburn, Adrian Ferson, Marty Daly, Nigel Campbell, Marty McCormack, Cameron Stewart, Peter Sloan, Mustafa Kaplan, Johnny Scott. Subs: Brian O'Donnell, Kevin O'Neill, Gavin McGuckin.
