Desertmartin were the visitors to Beechway. Neither team had played for several weeks. With it being a local derby, it was always going to be a hotly contested battle. Killymoon gave debuts to Marc Harkness and Gerry Moore who had both signed in the transfer window. It was a cagey start by both teams and chances were few and far between. Both teams were happy to cancel each other out with some very good defending. The one notable opportunity came when the ball ended up in the Desertmartin net only to be ruled offside. The first half ended with both keepers not really being tested and the score 0.0.
The second half started with veteran Kyle Smith coming off injured and being replaced by Thom. Desertmartin had a great chance to open the scoring with a free kick 20 yards out but the Killymoon defence held and the attack came to nothing. The Desertmartin keeper then made a super save from a shot which looked a goal all over but a super reflex save seen the ball over the bar. Debutante Marc Harkness was now coming more into the game with his darting runs and sure enough it was he who broke the deadlock. With a lot of scrimmaging going on in the Desertmartin box, the ball fell kindly to Harkness who smashed the ball home from 18 yards. That seemed to break the hearts of the Desertmartin team who had played really well. With only minutes left on the clock, gaps were starting to appear and it was Redford who finished the game off. From a long kick up front, Redford took control of the ball. With the defender tight till him, Redford managed to chip the keeper from 18 yards and seal the game. 2-0 the final score.
Manager phil gray said after the game "This was a tough game but the lads kept going and got the result they deserved well done"
